A season of being still, reflecting, and letting go is approaching

Be defined by a vision of the future instead of the memory of the past, because after all, thoughts shape reality

During AUTUMN the temperature drops and the days become shorter. The trees shed their leaves, providing nourishment for the next season. Wildlife retreats in preparation for winter. It is a time to settle indoors, fostering introspection and stillness. The cooler weather allows for a calmer pace as we prepare for the winter months. Autumn is a season of letting go, slowing down, and reflecting. It is a time to consider what serves us and brings value, and what doesn’t. This season encourages nurturing ourselves and seeking enriching company.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Autumn is linked to the Metal element and governs the Lung and Large Intestine.
Every season should always be a time to ground ourselves, focusing on those organs and what the season offers us.
Lungs – our letting go of the emotion organ. Breathing and calming the body down. This is why breath work is so important this season. Practically, it is also in preparation for the cold winter to come to enhance our blood flow and circulate heat. It’s a time to breathe in what matters to us and let go of the emotions, releasing any stuck qi (your life’s energy) that no longer serves you.
Large Intestine – almost the deepest organ represented in the latter seasons. After being very active and probably overworked through the summer, it is now time for “letting go” and clearing out ie. “don’t carry your shit into the next day or season” (defecating & cleansing).

The lungs and large intestines are closely connected to the seasonal changes and the food we consume. In the fall, the dry air and central heating can cause dryness in the lungs. To counter this, it is beneficial to incorporate moistening foods into our diet, such as slow-cooked dishes, stews, and baked goods. These foods help to nourish the lungs and promote easy digestion in the large intestines. It is important to keep the body and blood warm during this season and strengthen our immune system, known as wei qi.

On Saturday 28th October we approach a full moon. The Hunters moon (named after the time that hunter gatherers would utilise this natural night light) falls around many prominent environmental changes that reflect and effect our current state of being and ability to progress and develop.
This celestial event moves us into an energetic and emotional state. We may experience a heightened sense of stability and security in our lives, thus being drawn to finding more grounding on a daily basis. It is a time to focus on practical matters and to find balance between our material needs and our emotional well-being. It is a season that urges us to embrace change and adapt to new circumstances. It is a time to release old patterns and embrace new possibilities. Overall, the Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon on October 28th symbolize a powerful moment of transformation and growth, inviting us to reflect on our emotions, embrace change, and find balance in our lives.

So as we ease ourselves into a seasonal change that many of us are reluctant to face, rather than resist, allow yourself to open up and flow with this season. Utilise resources to help strengthen you where you feel you are struggling.Let go of the painful memories, triggers, and trauma from the past as you go on and maintain your attention on the possibility of positively progressing in this lovely, never-ending spiral of time. This is the season to move forward, laying things to rest and bringing to light who and what you want to bring into fruition.
